National Coffee Day: Is coffee really good for your health?

Calling fellow coffee lovers! September 29th is National Coffee Day! In that day, we can spare time to have some ideas about the advantages and the appropriate amount of coffee should be consumed every day

Ah, coffee. Whether you’re cradling a travel mug on your way to work or dashing out after spin class to refuel with a skinny latte, it’s hard to imagine a day without it. The caffeine perks you up, and there’s something incredibly soothing about sipping a steaming cup of joe. But is drinking coffee good for you?


Good news: The case for coffee is stronger than ever. Study after study indicates you could be getting more from your favorite morning beverage than you thought: Coffee is chock full of substances that may help guard against conditions more common in women, including Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease. Let’s find some advantages:

1. Coffee boosts your physical performance

Have a cup of black coffee about an hour before workout and your performance can improve by 11-12%. Caffeine increases adrenaline levels in your blood. Adrenaline is your body’s “fight or flight” hormone which helps you to prepare for physical exertion.

2. Coffee is hydrating

While many have claimed that coffee and tea are diuretics, recent studies found that participants were just as hydrated, whether their liquids had added caffeine or not. Good news: your three cups of coffee count towards hydration!

So It can reduce cirrhosis. While coffee cannot reverse liver damage or even help you sober up after a night out, one scientific study did find that coffee consumption can significantly reduce the risk of cirrhosis.


3. Decreased depression

A large study from 2011 found that depression risk decreases with increasing caffeinated consumption for women.

4. Antioxidants

Plus, coffee is full of antioxidants! Surely that makes it an officially approved health food.

5. Coffee drinkers have less risk of heart disease.

Korean researchers found that study participants who consumed 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day were less likely to show the beginning signs of heart disease. The study. Other dietary factors should also be noted as Koreans typically have a different diet than do Westerners. A more recent study conducted in Brazil found that those that consume at least three cups of coffee a day tend to develop less calcification in their coronary arteries.

6. Coffee reduces the risk of cancers.

One study has shown that coffee may decrease the risk of developing prostate cancer in men by 20 %, and endometrial cancer in women by 25 %. People in the test group drank four cups of coffee a day. Caffeine may also prevent the developing of basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer


On the other hand, you should know some information below: 
  • Bad coffee can be toxic. Bad quality coffee can have a lot of impurities in it, which can cause sickness, headache or a general bad feeling. This can happen if your coffee is made from beans that have been over ripped or otherwise ruined. Even one ruined bean can make your cup toxic. If you invest and buy high quality, specialty coffee you don’t have to worry about this. 
  • Coffee can kill you. Yes, if you drink 80-100 cups (23 liters) in a short session. This dose is lethal and will amount in 10-13 grams of caffeine within your body. Before you reach this point, however, you'll be vomiting most of it out since 23 liters of any liquid is a lot. Even drinking 23 liters of water can kill you. 
  • Coffee can cause insomnia and restlessness. Again, it's the caffeine working here. Your recommended maximum amount of caffeine is 400 milligrams, roughly the amount that you’ll get from 4 cups of coffee. If you’re caffeine-sensitive, be careful with coffee. You are probably already aware what amount and what kind of coffee suits, or doesn't suit you. The amount of caffeine that is safe for human consumption is actually written in our DNA.

If you have high cholesterol or you are caffeine sensitive, pregnant or a child (or a parent of one), you should pay attention to coffee drinking.

For others, reasonable amounts (1-6 cups a day) coffee can be good for you. It can prevent serious diseases, boost your mind and muscles, and even help you with weight loss. Remember, as long as you drink toxin free, specialty coffee and brew it with care, you can and should be enjoying it knowing it's good for you. Make Good Impression On Your First Day At School With 14 Back-to-school Tips

Starting college is a daunting experience, and your first day can often be the most daunting. But it doesn’t need to be! While many people think that the first day is the most stressful, we’ve come up with some tips to make sure that your first day is as fun and as easy a transition into college life as possible.

1. Prepare early

It would not be great to go school supply shopping the night before the first day. A few weeks before school starts, make a list of what you need for school

If you get a supply list in the mail, follow it. If you don't, write out what you think you need. (Note: you may have to return to the store to get a few more items after school has already started). Set a budget, and head off to the store. This is more fun with a friend.

Some ideas are binders, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, correction tape, paper clips, lined paper, pencil crayons, highlighters, etc. If you can, reuse some things you still have from the previous school year. It is best to start fresh with new supplies.


2. Get some more clothing items.

Again, make a list of what you want/need. It's also more fun to go shopping with a friend, sibling or another family member.

A list of what you might need includes the following:

At least 2 pairs of new jeans (one dark wash and one light wash is probably a good way to start) 

You may also want some new sandals/flip flops if it's warm where you live or if it's getting chilly, you may want combat boots or Ugg boots. (Toms, Converse, Vans, and Keds are also good choices). 

Try having 1 pair of gym shoes, and 3 good pairs of shoes you can wear to school. If you already have these shoes, you probably don't need to purchase more. 

You should make sure you have enough undergarments that fit well, as well as tank tops. You should get new back to school shirts, like flannels, t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts as well as hoodies and sweaters.

3. Eat a healthy, hearty breakfast

You don't want to be hungry throughout the day.


4. Pack your lunch or gather lunch money

Everyone needs to eat lunch, or they will be hungry later. Be sure to look at the school lunch menu for the day before deciding on ordering school lunch, though, to make sure that you'll be eating something you like!

5. Take a note of the rules, and obey them!

Disobeying rules are the quickest way to get in your teacher's bad books. Rules are there to be obeyed, and you might find yourself in detention if you disobey them.

6. Say hi to people and smile!

Being friendly is the best way to make new friends. But don't overdo it, you'll end up being a creep or the weird girl/boy of the school. Just remember, act natural and be yourself!

7. If you have your own group of friends already


Don't act too exclusive or clingy. It'll make others feel intimated and they'll start judging you or just avoid you completely all together.

8. Make a school year resolution and stick to it

That way you'll be more organized. For example, always keep a diary on you!

9. Explore your campus!

Once you’ve unpacked and made yourself feel a little more at home, go and explore your new surroundings! Whether you head straight to figure out where your classes will be or you’re more interested in seeing the recreational facilities, try to orient yourself and see a bit more of the campus. You’ll be feeling at home in no time!

10. Don’t spend your first night alone.

And no, before you get the wrong idea, we are definitely not suggesting that you hook up with someone on your first day! Whether people on your halls are going to a party or they’re all staying in with a chick flick and some popcorn, be sure that you’re not in your room alone the first night. Even if you’re really tired, go and meet some new people before saying you’re super tired and need some sleep.

11. Meet as many people as possible…


Be prepared to meet as many people as you can on your first day. Everyone is going to be smiling and keen to make new friends, so be sure to take advantage of this! Don’t judge anyone yet, and don’t automatically decide who your friends are going to be—just take it easy and play it by ear.

Just be sure that you introduce yourself to as many people as you can! Whether you go around your hall knocking on doors or are just hanging out with people who knocked on your door, be sure that you spend time with other people who have just moved in.

As your students enter your classroom for the first time, stop each one at the door and say hello. Smile, look them in the eye and introduce yourself.

This simple act puts nervous students at ease and sends the message that you care about them. It’s also a quick and easy way to begin building rapport and reciprocal kindness.

12. Be kind

Be kind to the teachers even if they aren't that nice to you. It may seem ridiculous, but it can make the difference between a good year in that class or a bad year! Just remember, you will have that teacher for a year! And being friendly can make people view you differently.

13. At break times, enjoy yourself!


I'm sure by now you will have found many new friends, so hang out with them! Suggest games that you are certain that everyone will enjoy, and smile a lot! Smiling lets people know you are enjoying their company, and they will want to spend more time with you. Plus, everyone looks better with a (genuine) smile.

14. Be positive

It may seem like High school is the most annoying thing and the worst part of your life, but it's not.

Your first day, and in fact the entire Welcome Week, is a very stressful experience—and many people don’t have the best time. But it's okay! You’ll settle in soon, especially once you’re in the routine of classes and have met people with similar interests in your classes and through the extracurriculars that you choose to join. The problem with poorly fitting T shirts is that they're so painfully obvious. T-shirts are some of the more revealing tops a man can wear, and if they do not fit your body, it's painfully obvious.

Few wardrobe staples need to be worn so carefully, and many men spend their entire lives trying to find the elusive "best-fitting" t-shirt.

But what does it mean for a t-shirt to fit ideally? We'll demystify that for you. Today, that means four things. The shirt should be:

1. Slim fit. 
Basically, as slim as you can get without showing off too much or feeling like a second skin.


2. Sleeves should hit before your bicep.

Ideally, the sleeves shouldn't billow out in any way and should follow the arm downwards.

3. The hem should hit at about the belt line.
Doesn't hurt to be slightly longer, but any shorter might be a bit revealing. You can carefully choose the T shirt’s length.


The shirt should end somewhere between upper to mid crotch. I would rather it be closer to mid-crotch than upper-crotch because this avoids showing stomach when reaching up for things and allows it to be lightly tucked into the front of your belt/pants to break up your proportions – if you want.

4. This is mostly just a fit thing, but a constricting neck is never comfortable.
Avoid it at all costs, as you always want a shirt with a collar that will lie flat.

• Rew's necks are pretty standard, but just make sure it doesn’t fit too tight around your neck, or too loosely. If the collar looks stretched out or you can see some of your shoulders when wearing, that’s too loose.

• If you’re wearing v-necks, you need to avoid deep all costs. Man cleavage is just… no. Some brands will have deeper v’s than others, so be wary of how deep it is. Just make sure the bottom point of the “v” doesn’t go past the top of your armpits and you’ll be fine.


As for materials, we prefer ours at least mostly cotton, if not 100%. We don't hate the ones that add a bit of elastane or spandex for a comfortable stretch. However, T shirts labeled with "Pima" or "Supima" cotton use a special kind of cotton called extra-long staple cotton, which is named after the Pima Indians in Peru and is grown primarily in that country, Australia, and the Southwestern US. It has a reputation for being soft, durable, and absorbent.
