TIPS FOR CHOOSING A PERFECT WHITE SHIRT FOR WOMEN

There are obviously a couple things to look for in a white tee. For me, the perfect white t-shirt is:

1. Not see through.

You are able to wear it with a nude bra underneath without feeling like everyone can see everything.

2. Not super expensive.

With three young kids, a white t-shirt is bound to get effed up Flattering. I want just the right amount of body-graze without my pooch or any rolls being highlighted by a bad drape or fabric.

3. Comfy.

Anything itchy or too tight need not apply.

Best Splurge

No one does luxe basics like The Row (we’re currently drooling over the brand's cozy cashmere sweaters), so it’s not a surprise that the Olsens' take on the white T-shirt doesn’t skimp on details, like a silk-trimmed back seam.

Best Value

At $8 a pop, you can’t beat the Hanes classic. The cotton, polyester, and rayon-blend features a heart-shaped V-neck neckline and a left pocket. But don’t worry about those irritating construction tags; this style is tax-free. Buy in bulk.

Best Boyfriend

Borrowing from the boys is nothing new, but sometimes you want your own perfectly proportioned oversize tee—is that too much to ask? Well not according to the Rag & Bone designers, who have crafted their own baggy boyfriend T-shirt from 100% cotton.

For wearing with a necklace

This pre-shrunk, V-neck tee elongates your torso and is subtlely sexy. Size up for a more relaxed look.

Best Cropped

This Alexander Wang tee has a shorter hem and relaxed cut, making it the perfect partner for high-waisted jeans and skirts.

Over the years I’ve accumulated more than a few white t-shirts but I’m always on the hunt for the best white t-shirt EVER. So I asked YOU, ordered a ton, and did a very scientific try-on ;). I wore the same jeans for each pic but changed up my shoes to show you how versatile a white tee + jeans can be if you just change up the kicks. I also shot each t-shirt from the front untucked (top left), from the side untucked (top right), from the front side half tucked (bottom left) and from the front side-knotted (one of my favorite ways to style a tee, bottom right).

For that boxy vintage look:

RE/DONE X Hanes 1950’s Boxy Crop Tee

Small and boxy, crewnecked, lightly structured, and subtly cropped at the waist and the arms. This is the tee you imagine you could find at a vintage store for $15, but will not. You’ll never regret owning this, even though it may seem expensive. It’s absurd, you’ll probably say to yourself, to spend $80 on a simple tee. But hear me out: These T-shirts are the retail equivalent of no-makeup makeup. These are T-shirts that will pull together an entire outfit handily, no matter what you are wearing — they’ll elevate jeans, and even out skirts and fancy pants. And most importantly, these are T-shirts you can wear almost every day.
